Student Pass Application

Once you’ve passed the AEIS (Admissions Exercise for International Students) exam in Singapore, here’s a step-by-step outline to follow from announcing the result to starting school:

1. Receive AEIS Exam Results

  • Wait for the official announcement of your AEIS exam results. The Ministry of Education (MOE) will inform you about the results.

2. Submit Required Documents to the School

  • After passing the AEIS exam, you will need to send the following documents to the school you are applying to:
    • PNSC Letter (the letter from the Singapore Ministry of Education granting approval for the student’s admission).
    • Required documents such as:
      • Birth certificate
      • Passport
      • Passports of both parents (for proof of guardian or parent relationship)
      • Any additional documents as requested by the school

3. Request for a Solar Number

  • Solar Number is the unique identifier used by the school for the application. After passing the AEIS exam, you’ll need to request this from the Ministry of Education (MOE).
  • You can usually do this through the school’s admissions portal or directly through the school after receiving confirmation of passing AEIS.

4. Fill in the School Application Form

  • Complete the application form for the school you are applying to.
  • Mother Tongue Language Selection: As part of the application, you will also need to indicate your child’s preferred mother tongue language. Singapore’s educational system requires students to learn a second language (Mother Tongue), and this is selected based on their heritage.

5. ICA Student Pass Application

  • ICA (Immigration & Checkpoints Authority) Student Pass application process:
    • Required Documents:
      • Completed Student Pass Application form (available on ICA’s website).
      • Copy of the AEIS results and school offer letter.
      • Valid passport.
      • Birth certificate.
      • PNSC letter.
      • Recent passport-sized photographs.
    • Sponsor Requirement: A sponsor is required for a student pass. The sponsor can be a parent, guardian, or a Singaporean PR (Permanent Resident). Ensure the sponsor is ready to submit their documents as well, such as proof of their relationship with the child and their identity documents.
    • Application Fees: The ICA charges an application fee for the Student Pass. Payment is usually made online during the application process.

6. Submit the ICA Application

  • After filling out the application form and preparing the necessary documents, submit the Student Pass application via ICA’s online portal.
  • Wait for the ICA’s approval, which typically takes 1-3 weeks.

7. Receive Student Pass

  • Once the Student Pass is approved, you will be notified by ICA, and the pass will be issued.
  • Collect the Student Pass from ICA or via the school depending on the process specified.

8. Start School

  • After receiving the Student Pass, your child can officially begin schooling.
  • On the first day, ensure that all required documents (Student Pass, school uniform, etc.) are ready for submission.
  • You may also need to attend an orientation session that the school offers to help your child adjust to the new environment.
